Diversity is Strength

We recognize and appreciate the value of a diverse workforce. As a team with varied talents, backgrounds, personal histories, and worldviews, we can more effectively meet the mission of our organization and the people and communities we serve. As such, TechnoServe encourages diversity at all levels and across all facets of our organization.

TechnoServe-Diversity-Is-strength

With this commitment to diversity, we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and affirmative action employer and do not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, HIV/AIDS status, and protected veteran.

Our mission of helping people lift themselves out of poverty is built upon the ideas of fairness and equity. We believe that every person deserves access to information, capital, and markets to create lasting prosperity for themselves, their families, and their communities.

These ideas of fairness and equity extend into our workplace, where:

We will hire, pay, and promote people based on ability, experience, and achievement. We will not discriminate or treat people differently based on their race, ethnicity, color, gender, religion, marital status, sexual orientation/identity, or disability.

We will strive to create workplaces that reflect the communities in which we work.

We will create, nurture, and protect an inclusive work environment in which individuals are able to openly share ideas and opinions and feel valued for their unique characteristics.

Further, we will celebrate multiple approaches and points of view as a sign of organizational strength.

We will continually focus on transparency, holding each other accountable to fairness and equity by following policies and procedures that help to prevent bias in decision-making.

We will persistently measure our diversity and inclusiveness, tracking progress, communicating accomplishments and shortfalls, and evaluating lessons learned.

TechnoServe offers an Explore with Us Internship, designed to offer people of color a chance to better understand the nonprofit sector through a paid, hands-on experience designed to provide exposure, mentoring, and most importantly, marketable skills. Interns participate in a special rotational program, spending time and completing assignments in different parts of our organization, which may include program management, business development, fundraising, marketing and communications, finance, and/or HR.

“I learned so much. I really enjoyed getting to know the teams, everyone was extremely nice and helpful, and I fell in love with the culture of TNS, the flexibility and the warmth of everyone. I learned so many different aspects about how an NGO works, I had no idea about what goes on in an international Non Profit organization as a whole, the amount of work that goes into it from the support teams at HQ was impressive.”

-Andrea Moore Explore with Us Intern, 2024

“I didn’t have much knowledge of development work, actually had almost zero knowledge, so this internship exceeded my expectations in everything. I know so much now. Before, I thought most of these jobs I could never do, but with the internship, I feel I can learn and I am able to do it too. I am very satisfied. I appreciate all the teams I worked with… Now I am totally sure this is what I want to do!”

TechnoServe Signs Racial & Ethnic Equity Pledge

CREED-Signatory-Badge

The change we seek to make in the world will only be possible if we continue to attract and retain world-class talent. We can do that if we create and nurture ways of working with each other that:

We are pleased to join the Coalition for Racial & Ethnic Equity in Development (CREED). Represented by our CEO, Will Warshauer, we signed the Pledge for Racial & Ethnic Equity (REE). We are joining more than 80 not-for-profit and for-profit development organizations, publicly committing to building diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environments.
