Empowering Smallholder Strawberry Farmers

In 2019, TechnoServe partnered with Danone, Grupo Altex, Fundación Walmart, and others to launch Madre Tierra, an initiative that aims at implementing an innovative and sustainable model to empower Mexican smallholder strawberry farmers through a transformative set of training, technologies, access to capital, and connection to markets.

TechnoServe Mexico works together with Danone in the implementation of the company’s regenerative agriculture practices and provides on-the-ground business, agronomic and climate-smart training to support smallholder farmers to achieve high environmental, safety, and quality standards. With the improvement of their capabilities, smallholder farmers are enabled to become part of Danone’s sustainable supply chain and access other formal markets, increasing the development opportunities for their families and their communities.
