William Warshauer to Join TechnoServe as President and CEO
Washington, DC – TechnoServe is pleased to announce that William Warshauer, an experienced nonprofit leader, has been named president and CEO.
Will currently serves as chief operating officer of Pact, a $180 million development organization operating in more than 25 countries, where he oversees global operations, including new business development and program development and delivery. He brings the right mixture of experience, entrepreneurship, leadership and imagination. His strong education and mix of volunteer, private sector and NGO experience are all things we sought in our next CEO.
Will launched his career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Sierra Leone and has since worked in 40 developing countries. Prior to joining Pact, Will served as executive vice president for health and development solutions with Voxiva Inc., where he led the development of innovative, mobile phone-based health information systems. As a former executive vice president at Population Services International (PSI), he led initiatives such as the development of the organization’s global strategic plan and oversaw a $90 million portfolio of health programs in Africa. He also previously served as PSI’s country director in Pakistan.
Will has been a consultant for several international organizations including UNICEF and UNAIDS and is a frequent public speaker and guest lecturer. He has served on several nonprofit boards, both in the U.S. and in developing countries. His academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in English from Yale University and a master’s degree in public affairs from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University.
“Will joins TechnoServe as our fourth president and CEO, at a time of strong momentum in our 46-year history,” said Paul Tierney, chairman of TechnoServe’s Board of Directors. “I’m excited for him to meet our already strong team and see the great work we’ve been doing. I look forward to partnering with him as we continue to build on the tradition and history of TechnoServe and forge ahead with our five-year strategic plan.”
Of joining TechnoServe, Will said: “I am humbled and delighted to have the opportunity to lead TechnoServe. I have admired the organization for many years and have been consistently impressed by the caliber of its staff and its cutting-edge approaches. Most of my career has been spent applying business solutions to development challenges, and I have seen firsthand the great leverage and power in that approach. Going forward, as more and more corporations look for shared value opportunities, and as foreign investment continues to dwarf official aid flows, TechnoServe's mission and skills will be more relevant than ever.”
Will formally assumes his new duties in August 2014.
