Lima, Perú (2 de setiembre, 2021) — La organización sin fines de lucro TechnoServe anunció su incorporación el pasado 17 de junio a la Coalición por una Producción Sostenible, un espacio multiactor que trabaja por cadenas productivas y jurisdicciones libres de deforestación.

TechnoServe es una organización internacional, con casa central en los Estados Unidos, que opera en Perú desde hace casi 40 años con el objetivo de promover soluciones empresariales para la pobreza.

Actualmente, su cartera de programas en Perú incluye la Alianza CAFE, una iniciativa para mejorar los ingresos de familias cafetaleras en las regiones de Huánuco, San Martín, y Ucayali; el proyecto MOCCA, que busca contribuir a la resiliencia de los sectores del café y del cacao en seis países latinoamericanos; y el proyecto MUJERES para apoyar a productoras de cacao en Huánuco..

Sus socios en el país incluyen a DEVIDA, la Agencia Estadounidense para el Desarrollo Internacional (USAID), el Departamento de Agricultura de los Estados Unidos (USDA), las empresas, JDE y  Perhusa, y la fundación West.

La Coalición por una Producción Sostenible busca promover alianzas multiactor para abordar problemas sistémicos relacionados a las cadenas de valor a nivel nacional y jurisdiccional para avanzar hacia jurisdicciones sostenibles y cadenas productivas libres de deforestación, además de promover un clima favorable para negocios sostenibles. Cuenta actualmente con 30 miembros, entre empresas privadas, organizaciones de la sociedad civil, instituciones públicas, y gobiernos regionales y locales.

“Hemos visto, a lo largo de las décadas que llevamos trabajando con productores y emprendedores, que el crecimiento económico debe ir de la mano con la protección del medio ambiente, y sobre todo de los bosques del país,” dijo Pamela Girano, directora de TechnoServe en el país. “Por esa razón, estamos muy emocionados de unirnos a la Coalición y trabajar con otros actores del ecosistema para crear un Perú más sostenible y próspero.”

TechnoServe Joins Peru’s Coalition for Sustainable Production

TechnoServe, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting farmers and entrepreneurs, will participate in the Coalition to promote production that is sustainable and free of deforestation

 Lima, Peru (September 2^nd, 2021) — Nonprofit organization TechnoServe has announced that on June 17^th, it joined the Coalition for Sustainable Production, a Peruvian platform that works to create value chains and jurisdictions that are free from deforestation.

TechnoServe is an international organization, headquartered in the United States, that has been working in Peru for nearly 40 years to promote business solutions to poverty.

Currently, its portfolio of programs in Peru includes the CAFÉ Alliance, an initiative to improve the incomes of coffee-farming families in the regions of Huánuco, San Martín, y Ucayali; the MOCCA project, which aims to improve the resilience of the coffee and cocoa sectors in six Latin American countries; and the MUJERES project to support women cocoa farmers in Huánuco. Its partners in the country include DECIDE, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. Department of Agriculture, JDE, Perhusa, and the West Foundation.

The Coalition for Sustainable Production promotes multi-stakeholder alliances to tackle systemic challenges related to value chains at a national and jurisdiction level in pursuit of sustainable communities, supply chains free of deforestation, and a favorable climate for sustainable businesses. It currently has 30 members, including businesses, civil-society organizations, public institutions, and local and regional governments.

“Over the decades that we’ve been working with farmers and entrepreneurs, we’ve see that economic growth must be accompanied by protection of the environment, and especially the country’s forests,” said Pamela Girano, TechnoServe’s Peru country director. “For that reason, we’re very excited to join the Coalition and work with other actors in the ecosystem to create a more sustainable and prosperous Peru.”
