Program Assistant - Coffee Initiative


I. GENERAL INFORMATION:

The Coffee Initiative is a project currently being implemented in East Africa and funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The project aims to help small-scale coffee farmers increase their incomes via improvements in the quality and quantity of coffee they produce.

II. PRIMARY PURPOSE & FUNCTION:

  • Responsible for providing quality professional administrative and programmatic support to the Vice President, Coffee Initiative (VPCI).

III. KEY ACTIVITIES:

Provide support to the VPCI, including, but not limited to:

  • Managing the VPCI's calendar.
  • Scheduling and coordinating meetings and conference calls.
  • Arranging all aspects of travel for VPCI, including flight itineraries, accommodations and visas.
  • Drafting and editing papers, fact sheets, presentations, general correspondence and other documents as assigned.
  • Maintaining files and list of deliverables for VPCI.
  • Assisting the VPCI with projects and providing programmatic support as needed.
  • Assisting in coordinating interdepartmental requests and projects and activities.
  • All other tasks as assigned.

IV. REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA or BS in business administration, international development or related field.
  • Knowledge of a second language, preferrably one spoken in East Africa.
  • General computer literacy and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding time management, decision-making and organizational skills.
  • Keen attention to detail with ability to track multiple projects.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic and positive outlook.
  • Developing world experience a plus.
